About My Method

What started out as a way for me to dress my stark-white apartment walls on a budget as a newlywed has evolved into what my dear brother calls RIP-ISM!

I've been drawn to art and longed to call myself an artist since about second grade. I took a lot of art classes in high school but pursued and completed a degree in English instead.

In 2002, I created my first collage using rubber cement, an old JC Penney catalog, and 99 cent poster board. I've adapted my technique since then. Now I use heavy foam board or stretched canvas, Mod Podge, and miscellaneous magazines. Lately, I've been ripping up a lot of Parents, Cooking Light, and Rachel Ray Magazines along with Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware Catalogs.

If anyone would like to donate old magazines for "recycling" Julie-style, let me know.
